The MuskOx Herd is thrilled to spotlight one of our Herdsmen — Kyan Olshove — for his outstanding 2nd place finish in the Pro/Elite Chequamegon 40, held as part of the Life Time Grand Prix series.

ABOUT CHEQUAMEGON & THE COURSE

Chequamegon is one of the Midwest’s most beloved mountain bike events, combining accessibility, challenge, and tradition. The flagship race, the Chequamegon 40, stretches 40 miles (approximately 64 km) from Hayward, WI toward Cable, WI, traversing a mix of American Birkie Ski Trail, forest roads, snowmobile routes, and wooded terrain.

While not a pure singletrack technical course, it demands a rider who can mix speed, endurance, and bike-handling across varying surfaces.

Because of its position in the Life Time Grand Prix — one of the marquee mountain bike race series in the U.S. — Chequamegon draws top national and international talent, making racing here a high-stakes affair.

2025 Pro/Elite Podium & Top Finishes

Kyan’s 2nd place doesn’t just tell a story of personal grit — it came in a tight finish among elite competition. Here’s how the men’s Pro/Elite race wrapped up:

RANK RIDER TIME
1 Alexey Vermeulen 1:56:39
2 Kyan Olshove 1:56:43
3 Brendan Johnston 1:56:43
4 Torbjørn Andre Røed 1:56:44
5 Cobe Freeburn 1:56:44
6 Bradyn Lange 1:56:44

Crossing the line just four seconds behind the winner, Kyan showed grit and composure, securing his spot among the elite podium finishers in one of the nation’s most hotly contested races.

"It's taken a lot of discipline and consistency in training. Lots of fun days but a lot of sacrifice too. It feels really good to have everything come together on a day like this to achieve the best result of my career so far. I'll be competing in two more Life Time GP events this fall as well as Iceman. I'm hoping to keep the momentum going and end the season on a high note." — Kyan Olshove
